About the event
🌿 Unveiling the Secrets of Urundel’s Collared Peccaries! 🌿
Check out these 4 collared peccaries (Pecari tajacu), caught on camera strutting through Urundel’s Yungas forests!
These pint-sized explorers are more than just cute.
Did you know their dorsal gland pumps out a scent so strong locals call them “the jungle’s perfumed pals”?
This funky smell marks their turf and tightens their crew’s bond, led by fierce females in a true matriarchy. In the REDD+ project area, these omnivores munch on everything from roots and fruits to bugs, keeping pesky critters in check. Their zippy trots carve paths through the jungle, later used by sneaky jaguars like nature’s highways!
The REDD+ cameras in Urundel are spilling the tea on how these tiny titans thrive in a forest under pressure.
Let’s protect these jungle heroes! 🌳 #WildUrundel #PeccaryPower
